I have a new jobhole!

Wow, things have been crazy busy for the last few weeks. I’ve been waiting for some free time with which to properly blog about it all, but that isn’t appearing… so today I’m testing out the 20 minute Getting Things Done Method, just to finally update my blog.

About a month ago I got a call from Matt Brezina asking if I was interested in joining Sincerely, Inc as a community manager. Though I loved working as a video game designer at Tribal Games, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with mobile phone photography full time.

Sincerely is a company that makes it easy to send real physical copies of photos through the mail. Many of you may already know I’ve been a HUGE fan of their Postagram app, which allows you to send postcard versions of Instagram photos. I’ve sent Postagrams to friends, strangers, and even as thank you cards to local restaurants, so I’m so stoked to get a chance to work with other people who love the product as much as I do.

My first day with Sincerely was on a Saturday. I had just finished my last day of work with Tribal and only had a few hours to pack somethings for a company “workation” to Puerto Vallarta. We worked from inside the pool, got attacked by dogs, played Settlers of Catan, and released the PopBooth app. Success! Then I flew back home for an appearance on the awesome App Judgement show with Mau and Anthony.

I’ve been learning a lot about community management… mostly I’ve learned how little I ACTUALLY knew about using social networks and working with communities. It’s way more challenging than I had originally thought. Did I mention I’m testing out better time management tools? Speaking of, only 4 minutes left to add some pictures and video links.

I’m loving the new job! I’ve had a bunch of cool gigs in my life (pro-yo-yoer, game designer, denim tailor, hair model), but this job has been one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to grow into it more. I’m loving our new downtown offices (lets do lunch!) and my co-workers are all freaking brilliant.

BTW, we are on the hunt for web devs and iOS devs. If you know of someone who may be interested, please get in touch with me ASAP at doc@sincerely.com. We have some cool new projects in the works and it’s a great time to have a big influence on the work we are doing.
