How to make your own butter at home

Making butter is super easy and I wanted to show you all how to do it!

1.) Pour a half cup of whipping cream into a mason jar and add 1/4 tsp of salt. If you are daring, you can add other stuff… like sugar, garlic, cinnamon, black pepper, sriracha, or whiskey.
2.) Shake.
3.) Shake.
4.) Shake.
5.) Shimmy… just kidding! Keep shaking. It’s around this time that your whipping cream will start to feel thick, like it isn’t even moving. This is always the point where n00bs say “This isn’t working!”, but it’s almost there!
6.) Once you start hearing a liquid sound, followed by a mild “thunk” “thunk “thunk” the buttermilk is finally starting to separate. Keep going just a little longer to get a good buttery texture.
7.) Open the jar and separate the buttermilk from the butter. At this point the butter is ready to be served and you can use the milk for other things, like making waffles!

Now that you know how to make your own butter, you can do this

Thanks for checking it out! Filmed on an iPhone using Lightt, with additional help from Christine.
